First glance: Pokemon Shield!

Pokemon Sword and Shield are officially out and, like many Pokemon fans, I spent much of the last weekend playing through the opening hours of Pokemon Sword.

After somewhere around 15 hours of game time, I can indeed confirm that this is a Pokemon game. Cool, cute, and ready to catch them all.

I have to admit that choosing between fire, water and grass at first was very hard as I think all of them are equally cute and great, but nevertheless, a decision had to be made.

The story starts super cute and you already get a glance at the legendary Pokemon holding the title of the game from the first played minutes, which I found it exiting.

I have to admit that the new Dynamax concept did not stood much on my impressions, as I find the normal version of the Pokemon with same movement not much different. But maybe I am just old school.

Dynamax is a brand new feature activated in the menu when you’re in certain areas such as Stadiums, Max Raid Battles and online battles.

To Dynamax, you need to get the special Dynamax Band item. When you do, you can Dynamax your Pokémon. This lasts only three turns and can be done once per battle.

Nevertheless, I like what they have done to the badge winning process. The arena, the uniform, the feeling of entering the league is just nerve wreaking! In a good sense, of course.

Oh, and a very nice bonus they added is that, if you played the former Pokemon version, you can get Eevee or Pikachu.

What I also liked is that, instead of only playing with your main Pokemon, you can just camp, play and cook for your Pokemon. What is nice about that is that you can restore their health without going to a Pokemon Centre.

So far so good, but more is coming up in the follow up articles!

Good game and do not forget, raise your Pokemon with love!
